PESHAWAR, Aug 31: A partial strike was observed by owners of fuelling stations here on Friday.

The Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) had given a countrywide strike call against the cut in profit margin of petroleum dealers by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

The call received a lukewarm response from owners of filling stations in the provincial capital as many petrol pumps were seen doing business in different parts of the city.

The petrol pumps which remained open are said to be owned by different oil marketing companies.

The PDA’s NWFP chapter also held a meeting at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was presided over by its president Mansoor Sharif. The association decided to continue the strike until acceptance of its demands.

The participants of the meeting were told that more than 300 petrol pumps remained closed and only those stations were open which were owned by the government or the various oil marketing companies.
