HYDERABAD, Aug 27: A female social activist and assistant officer of Young Samaji Tanzeem, Johi, Ms Shahzadi Khoso, has accused some members of her community of sexual harassment and registration of false cases against her brothers and demanded that some honest police officer should be deputed to investigate the case against her brothers in the interest of justice.

At a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, she said that about six months back many a houses were gutted in a fire incident in Goth Bazal Maal Khoso and she along with the members of her organisation had gone to the said village for relief work.

She said several members of the Khoso community including Gul Hassan Khoso looked towards the women with an evil eye and later they continued to harass her through SMS and missed calls. She said she rejected their advances with contempt which greatly annoyed them.

She said on June 6, the Khosas entered her NGO's office and ransacked the office. She said she lodged a NC report at the police picket located at Johi turning but police did not take any action. She said she also approached the respectable people of the area who seemed helpless against the miscreants.

She said DPO Dadu was also approached who forwarded her complaint to SHO Johi on August 15 but police took no action. She alleged that on August 19, Hayat Khoso filed a false FIR of firing at Dadu police station against her brothers, Qurban Ali, Qadeer Ali, Mohammad Hashim, Mehboob Ali and Inayat Ali claiming that they were his peasant and had been ejected from the land.

She said none of her brothers had remained the hari of Hayat Khoso because all of them were engaged in other vocations. She wondered if it was a crime for a woman to do social work without being harassed from the hooligans.

She appealed to the federal and provincial authorities, judiciary and human rights organisations to protect her and her family against the anti-social elements. She also appealed to the higher authorities to appoint some honest officer to investigate into the FIR registered against her brothers.

Her two brothers, Qurban Ali Khoso and Mohammad Hashim Khoso were also present at the press conference.
