SARGODHA, March 13: District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Abdul Rasheed dismissed on Wednesday the pre-arrest bail application of Sahiwal Tehsil Council Naib Nazim Haji Allah Dad Hargan in a rape case.

Urban area police arrested Haji Allah Dad Hargan and other accused and sent them to jail.

Mr Hargan, public health engineering department’s sub-engineers Muhammad Ayub and Ahmed Khan, Kamran and councillor Ghaffar were earlier booked for raping one Nasreen. Ayub was shot at and injured by Mr Hargan 20 days ago when Nasreen withdrew charges against the Naib Nazim. Ayub later died in a hospital and the police registered a murder case against Mr Hargan, Ahmad Khan, Ghaffar and Nasreen.

Ayub reportedly alleged in a statement before his death that Mr Hargan had borrowed Rs200,000 from him for his election campaign. Mr Hargan asked Ayub to come to the house of Ahmad Khan when the latter demanded his money and shot at and injured him.
