Woman killed; man drowns

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: A woman was killed in a road accident while a man was drowned in a nullah here on Sunday, police said.

In the first incident Tazeem Akhtar, said to be in her 40s, suffered multiple injuries when a truck (KLE-4088) hit her while she was crossing a road at Sihala Bazaar.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

In another incident Robeel Ahmad, 21, a resident of Tarlai Kalan, was drowned in Korang Nullah.

The police said Ahmad was bathing in the nullah when a flash flood swept him away. Shortly after getting information, the area police rushed to the spot and tried to locate the body.

Later navy divers were called in who also searched for the body but their efforts too remained unsuccessful.

Efforts will be made again to find the body in sunlight on Monday, the police said.

Meanwhile, two mask men, armed with weapons, looted a salesman of a mobile company.

Naved Akram lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police stating that he was intercepted by two persons at I-10/3 when he was going to his office on motorcycle.

The gunmen held him at gunpoint and snatched Rs198,000 cash and cards worth Rs22,000.
