LAHORE, Aug 25: Lord Nazir Ahmad, member of the House of Lords, says Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan’s case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain is quite strong. However, its adjudication would take some time.

He was speaking at a reception held for him by PPP secretary-general Jehangir Badr at a hotel here on Saturday.

Lord Nazir paid rich tribute to the lawyers for launching a movement for the independence of the judiciary after March 9 and announced awards for their leaders.

He said the movement set a new direction for democracy in the country. He asserted that the rulers were now left with no option but to restore genuine democracy.

He was also all praise for the role the media had played during the movement, saying that without it the drive could not have been so successful.

He criticised the government for “damaging the national stance” on the Kashmir issue and “selling out freedom fighters” to foreign powers.
