RAWALPINDI, Aug 24: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) No. 1 special judge Habibur Rehman on Friday granted bail to 26 students and teachers of Jamia Faridia in six cases concerning Lal Masjid.

The bail applications of the people, some of whom were booked in more than one case, were moved by different lawyers on humanitarian grounds on August 20 and 21.

In a case of riots registered by the Aabpara police, 20 people were granted bail, which was set at Rs50,000 each. Thirteen people were bailed in Chinese masseurs’ abduction case registered with the Margalla police.

Seven people were given bail in the police personnel abduction case registered with the Kohsar police.

Three men secured bail in the case of abduction of Aunty Shamim and clashes registered with the Aabpara police, while two men were granted bail in CDs burning case registered with the Bhara Kahu police.

The judge ordered their release on bail after the surety bonds were furnished and if they were not wanted in any other case.

The court deferred till August 28 hearing of the bail application of the people arrested in connection with the murder of a Pakistan Rangers’ soldier on July 3.

Admitting a bail plea of Majida Aziz, often addressed as Umme Hassaan, wife of former Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, the court sought on August 28 the record of two cases of police personnel abduction and distribution of hate material registered with the Aabpara police in May.

Meanwhile, those granted bail were Mohammad Ameer, Mohammad Nawaz, Shah Din, Rab Nawaz, Abdul Adyan, Mohammad Sadam, Shah Masood, Shah Saood, Qamar Din, Faizur Rehman, Mohammad Ashfaq,

Kamal Shah, Muneebur Rehman, Mohammad Jamshed, Saeedur Rehman, Naveed Illahi, Sheraz Ahmed, Mohammad Sohail, Mohammad Aamir Khan, Abdul Basir, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Imran, Fidaullah, Mohammad Anwar, Mohammad Adnan and Mohammad Afraz.
