Arrangements for Bulleh Shah Urs

KASUR, Aug 24: All is set to celebrate a three-day 250th annual Urs of Baba Bulleh Shah here from Sunday (tomorrow).

A large number of devotees from within and outside the country will participate in the annual celebrations of the saint.

The Auqaf Department will organize different programmes, including mehfil-i-mushaira, husn-i-qirat, mehfil-i-naat and mehfil-i-samaa. The Majlis Bulleh Shah, Kasur, will also hold the 17th Bulleh Shah Conference at Tehsil Council Hall on Aug 27. Provincial Public Health Engineering Minister Sardar Hasan Akhter Mokal will be the chief guest.

Majlis President Khadim Ali Khokhar and Secretary-General Muhammad Abbas Soz said the “Bulleh Shah Award” for the year 2006 would be given to Talib Jatoi and Bashir Bawa (Punjabi verses), Dr. Naveed Shehzad (Punjabi literature), singer Shaukat Ali (folk songs) and Bashir Ahmed Sheikh (khidmat).

The annual ghusal ceremony of the saint’s shrine will be held on Saturday (today) after Zohr prayers. — Correspondent
