PESHAWAR, Aug 22: Police busted a gang of car lifters and found five stolen cars in their possession here on Wednesday.

Superintendent police Mohammad Ijaz told a press conference that some of the gang members were also wanted by the Islamabad police. He said the police were looking for the remaining members of the gang and trying to find cars stolen from Peshawar and other parts of the province.

He said the five recovered cars were stolen from the cantonment area.

The superintendent said that the arrested people had disclosed names of other people involved in car lifting theft. The groups had established network in Punjab, Islamabad and the NWFP, he added.

Mr Ijaz claimed that one of the gang members had disclosed that his mother was running an NGO in Rawalpindi who was also involved in car lifting. Punjab police would be approached to arrest her, the superintendent added.
