HANGU, Aug 19: Militants targeted an army garrison centre near Thall in a pre-dawn rocket attack while two home-made devices exploded near a military training centre in Kohat cantonement on Saturday night.

Militants fired three rockets, near the bazaar in Thall town’s East, sources said. One of the rockets landed in the main ground of the Baloch Regiment and the other two hit the fort’s building, they said. No casualty or damage was reported.

On Sunday, police recovered a shell from a meadow near a restaurant along the main Kohat Road. It was defused by the bomb disposal squad, police said.

Our Kohat correspondent adds: Two home-made devices exploded near a military checkpost close to the Signal Training Centre’s ground in Kohat cantonment, killing several buffaloes in the nearby army dairy farm.

Officials said that explosions took place at around 11pm.

On Sunday, the local bomb disposal squad found a similar bomb in the same area.

Civilians are prohibited from entering the cantonment area.
