Police arrest 11 criminals

KASUR, Aug 19: The Kasur police have busted three gangs and arrested 11 robbers seizing snatched cars, valuables and unlicenced weapons from their possession, the district police officer said in a press conference here on Sunday.

The DPO said that he formed a police party headed by SP Investigations Syed Ali Mohsan which arrested the three members of Naeem Pathan gang used to snatch vehicles from Pattoki police precincts.

The police seized two stolen cars, several cell phones and illegal weapons from ringleader Naeem and his accomplices Rashid Khan and Snapp Khan.

The police also smashed Parvez gang and arrested its three members besides seizing stolen gold jewellery, cash and cell phones. Ringleader Parvez, alias Paija, and his accomplices Sarfaraz and Tahir were also wanted in a murder-cum-robbery case.

Similarly, the Phoolnagar police netted Arshad, alias Motta, and his accomplices Abdul Qayum, Mumtaz, Parvez and Ghulam Murtaza and seized looted cell phones and cash along with illegal weapons from their possession.

KILLED: A robber was shot dead by the firing of his own accomplices trying to flee after locals besieged them near Sarhalee Kalan village in Mustafabad police limits Sunday night.

Three unidentified robbers started looting the locals near a canal bridge and took many passers-by hostage in a nearby field. Meanwhile, two of the passers-by fled and informed the villagers on which a contingent of villagers rushed to the scene.

On seeing the locals, the robbers tried to flee by resorting to aerial firing. However, one of them was hit by a friendly fire and died on the spot. The police sent the body for an autopsy and identification after registering a case.
