KARACHI, Aug 17: A short national hockey training camp starts at Hockey Club of Pakistan from Sunday for the 7th Asia Cup in Chennai later this month. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has invited 30 probables to attend the week-long camp to prepare for the continental event which begins from Aug 30.

Pakistan manager-cum-chief coach Islahuddin Siddiqui said players were showing improvement and they had proved their mettle, holding Olympic champions Australia and Asian Games gold medallist China to a 2-2 draw in the recent Beijing Good Luck tournament.

Pakistan finished third in the tournament after beating lowly-rated Malaysia 4-1 in classification encounter.

“We missed the final berth by a whisker. But I am quite satisfied with the performance of the team,” said the coach.
