Threat to stop work on gas pipeline

KARAK, Aug 12: People of Banda Daud Shah tehsil have decided to stop work on the laying of pipelines from the Gurguri gas field and block roads after Aug 15 in protest against the non-supply of gas to all villages in the tehsil.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, Teri Gas Action Committee chairman Nawabzada Farooq, general-secretary Gohar Imtiaz, Teri Union Nazim Raza Abbas and elders of all 24 villages of the tehsil said the people would block the Indus Highway and all other roads and would also stop companies’ workers from laying pipelines if practical work to supply gas to the villages was not initiated by Aug 15.

They said that the locals extended every cooperation and hospitality to the foreign staff of oil and gas exploration companies, but they did not fulfil their promise to supply gas to the Banda Daud Shah villages.

They warned that if the work was not initiated to supply gas to Teri, Easak Khumari, Shagai, Mamoki, Inzar Banda, Ghundi, Gandi, Bergai, Shaheeda, Rustam Banda, Kot Banda, Barbara, Halala, Chappari, Khawaza Algada, Jabba and Hayatabad by Aug 15, they would stop the movement of vehicles.
