PESHAWAR, Aug 11: Police busted a gang involved in car snatching and arrested one of its key members and recovered a stolen car on Bara road on Saturday. Safiullah, a resident of Landi Akhunabad, had lodged a police report stating that his taxi had been booked by two persons from cantonment area and was snatched by five armed men on Bara road.

The Capital City Police Officer Abdul Majeed Marwat took a serious notice of the incident and constituted a team headed by SP cantonment Mohammad Ijaz Khan to recover the stolen vehicle. Car snatchers opened fire at police when a raid was conducted and they tried to escape. But police arrested a gang member Mohammad Khan, son of Abdul Qadeer, an Afghan refugee and resident of Sango Landi, and recovered a stolen car and a firearm from his possession.

The culprit confessed the crime and gave police the names of his accomplices. Police were conducting raids to arrest the remaining gangsters
