MANSEHRA, Aug 11: The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) on Saturday announced that it would resist the government move to impose a state of emergency in the country.

The announcement came at an APDM meeting attended by representatives of its component parties and groups, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Awami National Party, Jamaat-i-Islami, Tehrik-i-Islami, Pakistan Therik-i-Insaf and others.

Speakers, including Younas Khattak, Khan Afzal, Maulana Qudratullah and others said that hundreds of people had been killed to please the US and added that the blood of innocent people would bring about a revolution in the country.

They hoped that the apex court would give a verdict in favour of the Sharif brothers and allow them to return to the country as free citizens. The meeting chalked out a strategy to make the August 14 public meeting in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh successful. The leaders said a convoy of vehicles would leave for Rawalpindi from the JI secretariat to take part in the public meeting.
