MIRPURKHAS, Aug 11: Hundreds of villages of taluka Digri have been deprived of electricity for the last six days after a fault developed in Digri grid station. Six days ago technical fault were developed in Digri grid station as a result, hundreds of villages of Digri taluka were deprived of power supply.

Hesco team comprising engineers and technical staff reached Digri grid station and started the repair work.

Bogi Khan Nohani, Chaudhry Aslam, Gharibabad, Old and New Dumbalo, Amb Mori, Kachhelo station, Bandhi, deh 170 and deh 190 have been facing power outages.

Hundreds of people blocked the main Tando Ghulam Ali-Digri road on Friday night in protest and staged a sit-in there.

The protesters raised slogans against the Hesco officials and demanded of Wapda chairman to ensure immediate power restoration.

An official of Digri grid station, Mohammad Iqbal, told that repair work continue at the grid station, however electricity has been supplied to Digri town from Tando Jan Mohammad grid station.

RAID: Six shopkeepers selling LPG without permits were arrested and later released after issuing warning on Saturday.

This was happened after the directives of regional police officer Hyderabad to bring under control the LPG sale without official permit.

Town police raided shops in different areas of the city and took six persons selling LPG illegally into custody.

After a few hours arrest they were released with warning to get official permit and also ensure availability of permits to their agents.

LPG shops in the area were closed fearing the crackdown after the raids.
