KHAIRPUR, March 11: The leader of a gang of dacoits, Manzoor alias Machhi, was arrested early Monday morning.

The DPO, Khairpur, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, had been tipped off about the presence of dacoit Manzoor in Faiz Ganj Taluka, Khairpur District.

He formed a police party and encircled a house in Bhango Behan link road where Manzoor had been hiding along with another dacoit, Nobat Rind.

Soon the police was able to arrest Manzoor, while Nobat managed to escape. An unlicensed gun was seized from Manzoor’s possession.

The arrested dacoit was involved in more than 38 cases including fourteen murders, six kidnappings for ransom, and robberies.

Manzoor’s arrest is also part of an operation against dacoits in Sindh. He was produced before the local court for remand under strict security.
