HYDERABAD: Protest against police

HYDERABAD, Aug 5: Members of the Bheel community members of Tandojam along with the Sindh United Party (SUP) activists, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Saturday against SHO Tandojam police station Malik Riaz for supporting a landlord of the area who is harassing the Bheels.

They accused the landlord of the area of harassing members of the minority community and allegedly intruded their houses to rape women.

They said the SHO was doing nothing to prevent such acts and when anyone approached the police the SHO refused to lodge their compliant. Instead, they said, false cases were lodged against complainants themselves.

They appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of police excesses.

Two arrested

The excise police arrested two alleged narcotics dealers and recovered 40 kilogram of fine quality charas from their possession during a raid on Badin-Khoski road.

According to Chaudhry Ghulam Ahmed Arain, in-charge of special squad and ETO, the raid was conducted on Sunday in Bokhi Village of Badin taluka, in which Mohammad Juman son of Allah Warayo Mallah and Qurban son of Allah Warayo Mallah were arrested from whose possession 40 kilogram of charas was recovered.

A case vide crime no 16/07 under section 9-C was registered by the excise police.

According to ETO, so far 103 cases of narcotics had been lodged following separate action against drug peddlers in which liquor, opium, etc. were seized.
