LAHORE, Aug 3: A jeep rally from London to Kuala Lumpur, in connection with the 50th independence celebrations of Malaysia, arrived here on Friday for one-day stopover. The rally with 17 Malaysians on board eight jeeps started from London on July 8 and reached here via France, Italy, Turkey and Iran. The rally will cross Wagah border on Saturday to enter India. It will reach Malaysia on Aug 30 via Tibet.

The head of the rally, Mr Thomas, said the rally reached Lahore two hours behind schedule. He said the delay was caused by a collision between two jeeps near Okara. Luckily, he said, the damage was not a big one.

He was all praise for the hospitality of the Pakistanis and said after entering the country from Quetta his caravan received warm welcome from the people.

He said another purpose of the rally was to promote friendship among the people of all the countries of the route.
