Lawyers attack DOR office

Published August 3, 2007

SARGODHA, Aug 2: Baton-wielding lawyers attacked the office of the district officer for revenue on Thursday after he ‘interfered’ in the construction of second floor of the chamber of lawyer Amir Khan Rokhri.

However, the revenue official fled before the attack.

Later, the District Bar Association condemned the revenue official for interference in the building plan, and announced that lawyers would boycott his court. A committee was formed to consider further action against the official.

Meanwhile, the clerical staff of district courts and revenue staff observed a strike against the attack by lawyers.

Rokhri alleged the revenue official manhandled him in the presence of his clients and colleagues due to his personal grudge. — Correspondent
