Zaheer rises in ICC rankings

Published August 2, 2007

DUBAI, Aug 1: India fast bowler Zaheer Khan can savour sweet taste of success in the ICC player rankings after his man-of-the-match performance in the second Test against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Zaheer, whose 9-134 was instrumental in helping India secure a seven-wicket success and take 1-0 lead in the three-match series, has charged up seven places to 12th spot in the latest ICC table for Test bowlers.

The ICC bowling list is still headed by Sri Lanka off-spin magician Muttiah Muralitharan, now on the brink of eclipsing Australian Shane Warne’s record for most Test wickets, with Makhaya Ntini of South Africa a distant second.
