KARACHI, July 31: Mirpurkhas will emerge as a new centre when a Sindh ranking open tennis tournament takes place at the refurbished Gymkhana courts from Aug 9 to 14. The tournament is part of STA development series launched by the provincial tennis association last year.

The events that will take place are men’s singles, juniors U-17 singles, boys U-13 singles and men’s 35 plus doubles.

Free boarding and lodging facilities will be provided to outstation players. Last date for submission of entries is Aug 6 which can be sent to secretary STA or secretary Mirpurkhas tennis association.

The STA has lent support to the organisers in kind by providing 20 gallons high quality paint with accessories for the revival of game in rural Sindh. In addition, they are also providing balls and trophies for the event which did not carry prize money.

STA plans to conduct similar tournaments in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana also in future.
