Divorce leads woman to death

MIANWALI, July 29: A man shot dead his younger sister for getting divorced after spending two years in an issueless marriage.

Nadia Bibi (22), daughter of Muhammad Iqbal of Yarookhel Katcha was married to her cousin Muhammad Anwar Khan two years back. The couple remained issueless and some two months ago Anwar divorced Nadia for not being able to give birth to a child. Following the divorce, Nadia started living with her parents.

On Sunday, Nadia’s elder brother Sajid Khan, who was not happy with the divorce and held his sister responsible for it, opened fire on her. She received five bullets and died on the spot.

Sajid, a father of four, escaped from the scene after committing the crime.

Saddar police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of his brother Muhammad Asif Khan.
