ISLAMABAD, July 26: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has initiated review for change of circumstances of anti-dumping duty imposed on dumped imports of Sorbitol 70 per cent solution from Indonesia.

This is the first changed circumstances review initiated under the Pakistan’s Anti-dumping Duties Ordinance, 2000.

P.T. Sorini Corporation Tbk of Indonesia, an exporter of Sorbitol to Pakistan, on June 11 this year had submitted an application to NTC asserting that there was a change of circumstances that warranted a review under the anti-dumping duty ordinance.

The NTC had imposed an anti-dumping duty effective from July 19, 2003 for a period of five years on Sorbitol produced and exported by the applicant.

The original investigation was conducted on the basis of an application received from domestic industry producing Sorbitol - Habib Arkady Ltd, Karachi.

An official announcement of the NTC on Thursday said upon examination of a duly substantiated request, the commission had initiated a review to determine whether, upon change of circumstances, continued imposition of anti-dumping duty was necessary to offset dumping and whether injury would be likely to continue or recur if anti-dumping duty were removed or varied.
