SWABI, July 21: A man attacked his mother with an axe and injured her critically when she tried to make him realise it was impossible to marry without proper finances. She later died in hospital.

The incident occurred in Kalabat, about 20 kilometres from district headquarters and the accused was identified as Sawar Khan.

The deceased’s husband said that his son kept pressing them that they should arrange his marriage but they had told him that they were too poor to make such an arrangement. He said that they had promised him that they would arrange his marriage as soon as they could get hold of some money.

On Saturday, he attacked his mother when she informed him that there could be no marriage without money.

The man’s father has registered an FIR against his own son who has gone into hiding after the incident.

In Sheikh Jana locality, Ubaid Khan killed his sister and a man allegedly on learning about his ‘illicit relations’ with her.

It was learnt that the deceased had given a letter to a boy to be hand delivered to Ubaid’s sister but it had fallen into his hands.

He got home and shot her dead and later he also killed Sadiq.
