CJ transfers SC registrar

Published July 21, 2007

JUSTICE Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry assumed the charge of Chief Justice of Pakistan at 4.30pm on Friday, about half an hour after the Supreme Court larger bench reinstated him.

He signed the register at his official residence and would formally attend his office on Saturday, Staff Officer to CJ Chaudhry Abdul Hameed said.

In his first order after the reinstatement, the chief justice transferred Supreme Court registrar Mohammad Ali. However, he will remain attached with the Registrar Office.

He was replaced by Dr Faqir Hussain, who was transferred immediately after the suspension of the chief justice, and was made Secretary of the Law Commission. He will retain both the posts.
