NAWABSHAH, July 20: A large number of deserving and needy people who subsist on funds they receive from Baitul Maal staged a demonstration at the Motel Hotel Chowk in Sakrand on Friday in protest against inordinate delay in funds’ release

The protesters including old women, men and the disabled said that they were forced to live in miserable conditions due to non-release of funds by Baitul Maal.

They complained that when they went to Post Offices to collect their funds after getting approval letters from the local Baitul Maal office they were told that the funds could not be released because the Post Office had not yet received list of names.

They demanded that the district nazim and authorities concerned should issue directives to the Baitul Maal officials asking them to release funds without late.

BOOKED: Police on Friday booked two government officials for drinking alcohol.

The taluka police claimed that DDO of forests, Ishaque Junejo, and Assistant Mukhtiarkar Imamdin Larikh were drunk when they were arrested near the Qazi Ahmed Road.
