PESHAWAR, July 14: Police have arrested a man on a charge of assaulting a girl at the Fatho Abdurahemia village on the outskirts of Peshawar. Accused Bahadur Khan was produced before judicial magistrate Abdul Hassan Mohmand on Saturday and was remanded in police custody for two days.

An FIR was registered against the accused under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The wife of the accused had informed the police on telephone that while she was away from home, her husband had brought a girl into the house. In a swift action, police raided the residence and arrested Bahadur.

The girl, however, pleaded innocence and claimed that the accused had assaulted her. She claimed that she had gone to the residence of the accused only to give him ice, but she was forced into a room and assaulted.
