BADIN, July 10: A 13-member committee of UC Nazims and district council members have demanded intervention of the chief minister into Badin District Council budget affairs and the alleged attitude of district Nazim towards council members.

They demanded this during a press conference on Tuesday.

Council members Riaz Ahmed Taharani, Mohammad Ashraf Chandio, Haji Niaz Mohammad Nizamani, Abdul Razzaq, Ali Akbar Junejo, Haji Abdul Sattar Soomro, Mohammad Ismail Rahimoon, Syed Mohib Shah accused the Nazim of damaging the party interests and ignoring workers. Allocation of Rs2 million to each union council was merely on papers they said and added last year only, he promised to dispense one million rupees to each council which he did not.

They criticised his policy towards council members on the plea that the Nazim was creating division in council and threatened to launch a campaign and hunger strike against him.

The district Nazim denied the allegations of councillors and said they were doing this with a political motive. He said he did not award schemes to his favourites.

However, all work carried out in the district was in the interest of general public, he said and asked the councillors to come with positive proposals.
