TIMERGARA, July 9: A man gunned down his wife, infant baby and three close relatives and injured five other people in Rabat Darra area of the Lower Dir district on Sunday night.

The alleged killer, Anwar Khan, fled after committing the crime.

Police arrested his father Habibur Rehman and brother Ferhad.

Neighbours said that Anwar shot dead his wife Zahera and 11-day-old daughter Rani in his house.

Later, he went to the house of his uncle and opened fire on the inmates, killing two unidentified women and a man and injuring two men and three women.

Police said that the motive behind the gruesome murders could not be ascertained. They said that investigation into the crime was under way.

Meanwhile, clashes continued between the people of two villages in Nehag Darra area on the second consecutive day on Monday.

The clashes had left three people dead and several others wounded from both sides.

Officials said that clashes broke out when residents of Haidery village robbed a dweller of Bagh village named Shah Zaib on Saturday.

Among from both sides had taken positions on the hilltops.

The district administration and elders have failed to broker ceasefire.
