QUETTA, July 6: The mother of a labourer, Pati Bibi Marri, has sought the help of the Supreme Court, Balochistan High Court, Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International for the release of her son who was arrested on July 4 in Quetta.

In a press conference on Friday, Rehmatullah Marri, read out the written statement on the behalf of Pati Bibi, stating that she and her son were going to the Shiekh Khalid bin Zaid Hospital on Wednesday when security officials who were in civilian dresses arrested Safar Khan Marri.

She said that they were resident of the New Kahan suburb of Quetta and her son who was a loading labourer at a tractor trolley was suffering from an injury on his leg at the time of the arrest.

Pati Bibi said that Safar had no affiliation with any political organisation. He was not wanted by police in any case and the only reason behind his arrest was that he belonged to the Marri tribe.

She said that the people of her tribe had been facing excesses for the last eight years and asked human right organisations to raise voice against such unlawful acts.
