LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), July 6: Most victims of the June 28 floods in Landi Kotal boycotted a ceremony organised on Friday to distribute relief goods among the affected people and threatened to block the Peshawar-Torkhum highway if they were not paid proper compensation.

Khyber Agency’s political agent Sayed Ameeruddin was the chief guest at the ceremony, held at the Jirga Hall. MNA Allama Noorul Haq Qadri and elders of the area were also present.

The relief goods, mostly food items, were provided by the National Disaster Management Cell and the Deewan Farooq Trust upon a request made by the local administration.

A number of affected people refused to accept food items and said they needed money for rebuilding their houses. Official sources said at least 200 houses had been damaged.
