GUJRANWALA, July 5: The district bar association completely boycotted courts on Thursday and took out a rally on GT Road to express their solidarity with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Lawyers gathered at the bar room and condemned an operation against Lal Masjid by the government for `politicising’ the issue.

Speaking at a bar meeting, association president Ilyas Rehan and other lawyers said the government was defaming seminaries at international level.

Later, lawyers took out a rally which started from district courts and terminated at Gondlanwala Chowk on GT Road after marching along Sialkot and Kutchery roads.

The protesters pledged to continue struggle till the restoration of CJP and independence of judiciary.

They also condemned the government for submitting derogatory material against the Supreme Court judges and alleged that the regime had lost its credibility in connection with its reference against the chief justice.
