MIRPURKHAS, July 4: The Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas is receiving five to six dog bite victims daily for vaccines as their stray population has created panic in the city and other towns and villages.

The TMAs of the district failed to launch a campaign against stray dogs generating fear among people as children and aged persons are most vulnerable to such attacks, said a report.

According to the Civil Hospital record 26 dog bite victims acquired ARV while it was not available at taluka hospitals compelling victims to buy it from medical stores.

The civil surgeon Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti when contacted said Verovels vaccine comprising five injections was being provided to dog bite victims coming from different talukas. He said except Mirpurkhas taluka, other hospitals get funds for the vaccine.

Shortage of funds does not allow this vaccines to be provided to people of other talukas, he said and added the cost of Verovels vaccine was Rs3,800.

He said he had requested the district nazim to launch a campaign throughout the district.
