Gas supply not restored

Published July 4, 2007

QUETTA, July 3: Quetta and five other districts of Balochistan had been without gas for the 6th consecutive day on Tuesday as damaged pipeline could not be repaired due to heavy flood in the Bolan River.

The 12-inch-diametre underground pipeline which passed through the river was washed away by heavy flood near the Kundlani area. Gas supply was suspended to Quetta, Kalat, Khuzdar, Mastung, Pishin and Ziarat districts.

The pipeline has damages at two points. Heavy flood and rains have hampered efforts to replace the 200 meter long broken portion.—Correspondent
