VEHARI, June 30: There are over 307,000 unregistered voters in the district in new electoral rolls owing to non-availability of computerised national identity cards (CNICs). This was said by assistant election commissioner Riaz Husain while talking to this correspondent here on Friday.

He said new vote registration centres had been set up in every union council in the district.

He said people did not show interest in voters’ lists displayed at 853 centres in various parts of the district.

On the other hand, people had to face inconvenience because of closure of centres in some areas. Likewise lists had not been displayed when residents visited the centres.

Complaints were reportedly received from centres in UC-1, College Town, Machiwal, Fatehpur and Garah Mor. A voter who visited the display centre-01 at government primary school (Garbi). found it closed.

Speaking of complaints, Riaz Husain said he had redressed some of them and the rest would be removed shortly. However, he appealed to the people to visit the display centres, check lists and point out mistakes.
