PESHAWAR, June 30: Afghan Counsel-General Abdul Khaliq Farahi has assured Pakistani traders of removing all hindrances that affect economic cooperation between the two countries.

He gave the assurance at his meeting with a delegation of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) headed by Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, a press release said.

The delegation comprised traders involved with the Afghan Transit Trade and customs clearing agents.

The Afghan diplomat was informed about a number of problems, including the shifting of Afghan Trade Commissioner offices from Peshawar to the Torkham border and issuance of trade documents to irrelevant people instead of authorised clearing agents.

The Afghan official assured the delegation that he would soon contact Kabul for redressing their grievances and said that no stone would be left unturned in facilitating bilateral trade between the two sides, the press release added.

It was also decided that Pakistan-Afghan traders would hold a joint meeting to identify main hurdles between the two sides.
