Karachi-Quetta rally on March 29

KARACHI, March 5: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is organising a 3-day Karachi to Quetta motorcycle rally from March 29-31, 2002, it was announced here at press briefing Monday. The motto of the 740-Kms rally is “ To see Pakistan is to love Pakistan”.

The rally will start from the Quaid’s Mazar on the 29th March, and after passing through various coastal regions of Sindh, and through the mountainous terrain of Baluchistan it will end at Jinnah Avenue in Quetta on 31st March.

A special grant of one million rupees has been allocated to PTDC by the Government and elaborate arrangements are being made to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of the participants. Boarding and lodging, medical facilities and maintenance of motorcycles in the event of breakdowns will be provided by the organisers.

The rally is open to three categories of participants, the general public, students and sponsored motorcyclists. The registration fees is Rs 5000, 3000 and 15,000 respectively. Motorcycles of 125 C.C and above will be allowed to parti cipate in the rally as road conditions and safety measures have been taken into due consideration.

A cash Prize of Rs 25,000 will be awarded to the winner, Rs 15,000 to the runners-up, and Rs 10,000 to third place, while participation certificates will be provided to all the contestants.
