HYDERABAD, June 27: The Sindh Taraqi-Pasand Party has decided to organise token hunger strike at Naseem Nagar Chowk, Qasimabad, from June 29 to protest against the provincial and district governments’ lack of interest in developing Qasimabad taluka.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the party held at its headquarters and presided over by STP acting chairman Dr Abdul Hameed Memon. The meeting discussed the situation prevailing in Qasimabad taluka following recent rains.

It expressed concern over huge loss of life and property in Karachi, Thatta and Badin due to rains and observed that widespread devastations due to rains had exposed hallow propaganda of the government on development. It demanded appointment of a judicial commission to probe into the loss of 250 lives in Sindh in rain-related incidents.

The meeting also condemned loss of lives in tribal clashes, particularly in Shikarpur and Khairpur, and demanded that the tribal chiefs and feudal lords involved in the tribal disputes be taken to task and writ of law be enforced.

The meeting expressed concern over massive irregularities in voter lists and said that absence of five million voters from the lists in Sindh was incomprehensible.
