DADU, March 5: A large number of workers of the Pakistan People’s Party took out a protest rally here on Tuesday against the construction of the greater Thal canal project.

The protesters, after marching on main roads of Dadu, gathered outside the press club and staged a demonstration for one hour.

They were carrying banners and placards and were raising slogans against the construction of the Thal canal.

The rally was led by PPP city president Abdul Karim Mallah and SPSF president Gul Hassan Qambrani.

Speaking at the rally, Mr Mallah said that the greater Thal canal was an anti-Sindhi project as it would permanently reduce the livelihood resources of the province.

The protesters demanded the immediate withdrawal of the plan. Later, they observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.
