MUZAFFARABAD, June 24: A three-day Mountain Marathon, linking Kaghan and Kutla valleys in the North-West Frontier Province and Azad Kashmir, respectively, is being jointly organised by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government and the Alpine Club of Pakistan early next month.

The first marathon which will be held in three stages is one of the more than 50 different events which have been planned by the federal ministry of tourism to mark 2007 as “Visit Pakistan Year.”

Officials of the AJK tourism department and ACP said the marathon will commence on July 7 from the Kawai village of the Kaghan valley (4,500ft) and in the first stage participants will climb through Shogran (7,730ft) to Paya (10,145ft), covering a distance of 17km.
