LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), June 24: A man was killed and three others injured after two opposing groups fired on each other near the Bara area here on Sunday.

The incident took place in the Pakka Tarra area in Bar Qambar Khel when activists of the Takia group surrounded the house of one of the supporters of the Haji Namdar group.

This led to an intense fighting in which Saidul Khan was killed while three of his colleagues from the Takia group were injured. A spokesman for Haji Namdar, Munsif Khan, said that they had also ‘captured’ three members of their opposing group.

Personnel of the Khasadar Force and the Mehsood Scouts moved into the area but a Takia group supporter and member of the Agency Council Murad Saqi accused the local administration of being biased towards their opponents. He said that the Haji Namdar group had demolished a number of their houses but no action had been taken.

Meanwhile, fighting between the Lashkar-i-Islam and the Ansaar-ul-Islam spread to other localities in Tirah.

Sources in Bara said that activists of Lashkar-i-Islam attacked the Ansaar-ul-Islam positions in Thrakho Kas, Zeega Morcha and Mazari Khwla areas.

A Lashkar spokesman, Janzeb Khan, told this correspondent that four of their supporters had been injured in the two days of fighting.

Ansaar-ul-Islam’s Amir Maulana Mehboob claimed on FM radio on Saturday night that only one of his activist had been injured in the fighting.

Clashes restarted after a three-week lull.
