Five of a family killed

UBAURO, June 21: Five members of a family, including two women and a child, were killed in an attack on a house in Lal Pir village near here on Wednesday.

A group of Suhriyani tribesmen attacked the house of Gul Hassan Mohammadani and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates. As a result, Ms Gulli, Ms Bebal, seven-year-old Jeejal, Gohram, 18, and Nawab, 16, were killed on the spot and Ms Shahidan and Ms Darya Khatoon were wounded.

After the killings, armed men of both the communities took positions and a wave of fear prevailed in the area.

Those injured and the bodies were taken to a Ghotki Hospital. The bodies were later handed over to heirs of the deceased. Emotional scenes were witnessed at the burial.

The motive behind the killings is said to be a tribal feud.

The Ghotki police have registered an FIR against 15 accused, including Sajan, Nooro and Abdul Khaliq Suhriyani. Raids are being conducted to arrest them.—PPI
