ISLAMABAD, June 19: Justice Javed Iqbal, senior judge of the Supreme Court, has summoned the Punjab health secretary and the provincial police officer in his chamber on June 26 to submit a report on the illegal detention of students in the Mandi Bahauddin nursing hostel.

The suo motu action was taken on the news item broadcast by different TV channels on Monday.

The students were reportedly detained for about eight to 10 hours as they had complained against the school authorities for forcing them to dance at a private function in honour of the EDO who was going to perform Umra.

The students had also complained against deduction of money from their scholarships to arrange the function and providing substandard food to them.
