KHAIRPUR, June 19: A minor girl drowned in a pool of stagnant drain water in Mohalla Wandh here on Tuesday.

Eight-year-old Rehana Abbasi was playing in the street when she fell into the dirty water. Some residents of the area took her to the Civil Hospital in unconscious condition but she died before reaching the hospital.

Due to overflowing of drains, dirty water has accumulated in the streets of the locality.

ANNIVERSARY: A meeting of the Hami Yadgar Committee in Sohu Kanasro village, Kotdiji taluka, on Tuesday decided to observe 25th death anniversary of renowned poet and scholar Dr Atta Mohammad Hami on June 23.

INJURED: A trader and his two sons were injured when their car overturned after being fired at by robbers near Priyaloi on Monday night.

Dates trader Kelash Mal and his sons, Dharam Pal and Bhart Kumar, were going to Piryaloi from Sukkur in a car when unidentified armed men tried to stop them with the intention of committing robbery.

The driver did not stop the car and the robbers opened fire on it as a result the car which went out of the driver’s control and overturned. Those injured were taken to a Sukkur hospital.
