PESHAWAR, March 4: A batch of Afghan 2,813 refugees crossed into Afghanistan at Torkham point as part of the repatriation plan sponsored by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) here on Monday. This was the second batch, following the first one which left on March 1.

Apart from voluntary repatriation, some 3,000 Afghan nationals also left for their homeland via Torkham border town, the UNHCR officials said.

According to the UN refugee agency 503 Afghan families (2,813 individuals) were registered at voluntary registration centre at Takhtabaig, Khyber Agency, who proceeded to Torkham.

Each repatriating family is entitled to get food, plastic sheets and $100 cash aid from relief centres established inside Afghanistan.

On the first day, 196 Afghans were registered at the voluntary repatriation centre.

Official sources said over 3,000 Afghans also crossed  Pakistan-Afghan  border on their own  without  getting repatriation package.
