MIRPURKHAS, March 4: Mirpurkhas District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani has dissolved the management committees of schools and colleges in the district with immediate affect and sought report about their accounts.

The action was taken following the complaints regarding inclusion of irrelevant persons in the committees and the alleged irregularities in the record of committees.

Report said that the education department in August 2001 had issued notification for constitution of the management committees at school and college-level to improve the performance of educational institutions.

WALK HELD: A walk to create awareness about polio was held here on Monday.

Mirpurkhas District Nazim, Shafqat Hussain Jilani, EDO, health, Dr Ilahi Bux Soomro, and convener, district polio eradication committee, led the walk.

Activists of NGOs, doctors, para medical staff and citizens participated in it. They carried banners and placards and marched through different roads.

Later a seminar was also held at Health Technicians School.

KILLED: A man was killed and another was seriously injured in an armed attack in Pahlomal Colony here on Monday.

Kanji Meghwar allegedly attacked Ghansham Das and Babu Krishan Kachhi, resulting in the death of Ghansham Das and injuries to Babu Krishan who was rushed to local civil hospital.

Kanji was a peasant working on the lands of Seth Wasu Mal and Ghansham Das and Krishan were the landlord’s manager and cook respectively.
