LAKKI MARWAT, June 14: One of the two doctors and their driver, who had been kidnapped some 19 days ago, were freed on Thursday, officials said.

Dr Abdur Rehman, deputy district officer and Dr Mohammad Ishaq, medical superintendent of the DHQ Hospital, Lakki Marwat, were kidnapped along with their driver Anwaruddin on May 26 when they were going to their work. Dr Mohammad Ishaq is still being held.

Dr Abdur Rehman told Dawn that the kidnappers had handed them over to the local Taliban who set them free on Thursday.

He said that Dr Ishaq had been shifted to an unknown location a day before the kidnappers handed them over to the Taliban.
