ISLAMABAD, June 13: Pakistan Muslim League Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed has called upon President Gen Pervez Musharraf to convene an All-Party Conference (APC) to discuss and work out a programme for free and fair elections.

Taking part in the budget debate in the Senate on Wednesday, he also called for the release of PML-N leader Javed Hashmi, who is in jail on sedition charges.

Talking about the May 12 Karachi killings, he said skies would not have fallen had the rally of the Chief Justice being allowed to be held as was done on May 5 in Lahore.

He termed the budget pro-poor, pro-middle class and pro-people.

Continuing the budget debate for the second day, the lawmakers demanded steps on a war-footing to overcome the shortage of electricity.
