LAHORE, June 12: The reference filed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the National Assembly against Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is a “pack of lies”, PTI leaders said on Tuesday.

In a press statement issued here, PTI Secretary-General Shahid Zulfiquar, Information Secretary Ahmad Awais and PTI Punjab President Ahsan Rasheed alleged that the MQM’s reference had a backing of President Pervez Musharraf, who had “a bias against Khan for moving certain European governments against MQM chief Altaf Husain”.

They said the reference showed that the government did not want to give up its support to terrorist organisations and bring to book those responsible for the May 12 violence in Karachi. They said the PTI would not be cowed down by such tactics of the MQM. —Correspondent
