TOBA TEK SINGH, June 12: Five people were killed and more than two dozen injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck near Pirmahal, some 30 kilometres from here, on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said the accident took place as driver of both the vehicles were speeding.

Four of the dead have been identified as Farzand of Vehari, bus driver Iqbal, conductor Shafi and cleaner Mumtaz.

The injured were taken to Kamalia THQ hospital, Pirmahal Rural Health Centre and Toba DHQ hospital. Five seriously injured people, Zahoor, Safdar, Saghir, Salim and Mumtaz were admitted to the Toba DHQ hospital.
